More than €374,000 in cash seized by gardaí in Co Dublin

Two men were arrested in relation to the seizures in Holywell area of Swords

Two men were arrested after gardaí seized some €374,000 in cash on Friday as part of an investigation targeting serious and organised crime in the Dublin region.

Gardaí intercepted two vehicles in the Holywell area of Swords, Co Dublin and a “substantial amount of cash” was recovered.

Two men, aged 38 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of facilitating or enhancing the ability of an organised crime group to commit a serious offence, contrary to Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.

Both men were taken to Coolock Garda station, where they remain detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Follow up searches were conducted in the Swords and Clondalkin areas.

The total sum of cash seized in this operation is in excess of €374,000, and investigations are ongoing.

Officers attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau conducted the seizures, and they were supported by the Special Crime Task Force.
