Man to appear in court charged over Longford burglary

Gardaí chased men after aggravated robbery in Edgesworthstown over weekend

A man (34) is to appear before Longford District Court on Monday morning in connection with an aggravated robbery in Edgeworthstown.

A second man remains in custody at Granard Garda station over the incident which happened over the weekend.

At about 1.30am on Sunday morning a number of men entered the house at Edgeworthstown and threatened the occupants at knife point. The occupants managed to raise the alarm and Gardaí arrived as the intruders were leaving the scene.

A man (41) was arrested by gardaí­ following a chase on foot. A 24-year-old male was later arrested near the scene during a follow up operation involving gardaí from Granard and Longford stations.

All property taken during the course of the burglary has been recovered. A car has also been seized by gardaí­ as part of the investigation.
