Gardai in Cork have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body in a flat in the city this evening.
The body of the man was found in a flat on the North Gate House apartments, Bachelor’s Quay at around 6.30pm and he was pronounced dead by a GP.
Gardai have cordoned off the scene to allow garda technical experts carry out a forensic examination as gardai carry out preliminary inquiries in the area.
Gardai are expected to request the service of the State Pathologist’s Office later this evening but stress that such a move is a precautionary measure.
“We’re still trying to establish what exactly happened this man” said a garda source, adding that gardai have yet to identify the man.
