A man in his twenties is being questioned in connection with an incident in Co Kerry yesterday in which a 47-year-old man and his teenage son suffered stab wounds.

The 23-year-old man was arrested in Tralee yesterday and is being held at Tralee Garda station.

According to gardaí a man attempted to break into a car parked outside a home on Woodbrook Lawn, Tralee, at 6am yesterday. The man then walked around the back of the house where he was confronted by the home owner and his son, both of whom were stabbed during a brief altercation.

The 47-year-old man received stab injuries to his leg while his 17-year-old son also received minor stab wounds.

The male assailant then fled in the direction of the Monavalley Rd.

The father and son were treated in Kerry General Hospital for non- life-threatening injuries.
