Man injured during armed robbery in Co Meath

Gardaí appeal for information after masked raider assaults staff at shop in Rathoath

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery which occurred at a supermarket in Co Meath on Friday evening.

A masked man entered the Tesco Express on Fairyhouse Road, Ratoath, at around 7.20pm.

He threatened and assaulted staff before leaving the premises with cash.

One staff member suffered minor injuries during an altercation with the raider. No customer was harmed.

The raider fled the scene on foot and went in the direction of Riverwalk, a pedestrian area opposite the shop.

He is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5’11” and of strong build. He wore a beetroot coloured hooded jumper which had white draw strings and a red t-shirt underneath.

He was also wearing blue jeans, white socks and white runners which had white soles and a black trim around the ankles.

He wore a black mask covering his face and was carrying a green plastic bag.
