Man in hospital following Navan shooting

Incident took place on Drogheda side of Slane town

A man in his forties was shot and wounded close to Navan town shortly before 10pm last night.

The incident happened on the Drogheda side of Slane town. Gardaí declined to be more specific about the location of the shooting for operational reasons.

The man was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

An investigation is ongoing and gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or been close to the scene at the time to contact them on 046 907 9930 or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666111.
