Man held over flat complex fire that forced 100 out of homes

Eighty apartments evacuated following blaze at a complex in Clongriffin in Co Dublin

A man has been arrested in connection with a fire at an apartment complex in Clongriffin, Co Dublin, yesterday.

Gardaí and six units from Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and the fire is now under control.

The scene was currently preserved and being technically examined by gardaí.

People living in about 80 apartments were evacuated from the building during the incident and spent the night in nearby hotels.

No injuries have been reported.

The man is currently detained at Coolock Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at about 5.30pm.
