Man held after armed robbery of cash in transit van in Dublin

Staff member left with minor injuries after sum of money stolen by gang of men

Gardaí are investigating the armed robbery of a cash in transit van on Cork Street, Dublin 8 on Friday morning.

A number of men armed with a firearm threatened staff at about 7.40am, before leaving the scene with a sum of money.

One staff member was left with minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

A man in his 30’s was arrested nearby, where a firearm and a sum of money were recovered, and he is being held at Kevin Street Garda station.

A van which was believed to have been involved in the robbery was found on fire at Dolphin’s Barn Green and Dublin Fire Brigade are now at the scene.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Kevin Street Garda station on 01 6669400.
