A man has been arrested following the seizure of cannabis valued at up to €800,000 in Co Kildare.
Some 40kg of the drug was discovered when gardaí searched a house at Crossmorris near Kildare town yesterday.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being held at Newbridge Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
Members of the national drugs unit and local detectives were involved in the operation which was “intelligence-led”, a garda spokesman said.
