Man dies in Co Laois motorway crash

Gardaí are investigating the single vehicle collision

A 47-year-old man has died from his injuries in a road collision in Co Laois last night.

A 47-year-old man has died from his injuries in a road crash in Co Laois last night.

He was driving along the M7 motorway in Portlaoise when his car crashed at Ballymacken before 10pm.

The man was alone in the car and no other vehicle was involved.

Paramedics were called and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where a post mortem examination will take place later today.

The roadway has been reopened following a forensic collision examination at the scene.
