Gardaí arrested a man (29) after they stopped a car on the Naas Road last night and discovered a handgun and ammuntion.
During the planned operation, officers from the Organised Crime Unit, supported by local gardaí, stopped a car on the N7 near Kill, Co Kildare.
They searched the car and discovered a handgun and a quantity of ammunition.
The driver of the car was arrested and is being held at Clondalkin Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.
