Man arrested in connection with fatal collision in Co Kilkenny

Gardai have arrested a man in connection with a suspected hit-and-run in Kilkenny on Thursday.

A 53-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently detained at Thomastown Garda Station.

A man in his 20s was killed in a suspected hit-and-run on the westbound carriageway of the N24 Piltown bypass near Fiddown in Co Kilkenny.

The car the man was driving was in a collision with another vehicle at about 1am.

Gardaí said he died at the scene.

His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford for a postmortem examination.

Gardaí said the other driver failed to stop at the crash site.

The road was closed to traffic for several hours to allow forensic examinations to be carried out.
