Man arrested in connection with attempted murder in Belfast

PSNI appeal for witnesses after victim was attacked with a blade in a residential garden

A suspect has been arrested over the attempted murder of a man in Belfast.

The victim (28) was in the back garden of a house in Mill Race at around 3.30pm on Saturday when the attack occurred.

Police said he was approached from behind and slashed across the neck with a Stanley knife.

The man suffered a serious wound and was taken to hospital where he will undergo surgery.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. A short time later PSNI officers detained a man (27) in connection with the attack.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
