Man arrested after over 1,100 cannabis plants seized in Dublin

Gardaí estimate haul of drug found in Shankill property worth some €500,000

A man has been arrested following the discovery of about 1,100 cannabis plants in a house in Shankill, Dublin.

Gardaí searched the house at Heronford Lane on Tuesday and found 400 plants growing on the ground floor and a further 700 growing in the basement.

The seizure may have a street value of more than €500,000, gardaí said.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and was detained at Shankill Garda Station.

The house was sealed off for a forensic technical examination which will take place today.
