A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a supermarket in Co Meath on Wednesday.

Gardaí said a man wearing gloves, a balaclava and a hoodie and armed with what appeared to be a handgun, entered the store in Enfield, Co Meath, and forced staff to open the tills.

The man took a quantity of cash and no employees or customers were injured.

About two hours later, gardaí arrested the man and woman, both in their 40s, when they stopped a car on the N2 Finglas Road.

A quantity of cash was recovered.

Both suspects are being held at Trim and Kells Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.
