Man (53) held over dissident republican activity

A 53-year-old man was arrested on the Dundalk to Ardee road on Saturday night by gardaí investigating the activities of dissident republicans.

The man’s car was stopped and searched and a firearm and ammunition were discovered.

The man is being held at Dundalk Garda station under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

Another firearm and a stolen car were recovered during a follow up search of a premises in Co. Louth.

Investigations are ongoing.
