A man has died in a fire that broke out in a house in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, on Thursday morning.

Dublin Fire Brigade and gardaí were called to the home on Sheepmoor Gardens, Blanchardstown, at approximately 9am.

The fire brigade managed to save two people who were inside the house.

A man in his early 40s was also removed from the home, but pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination and investigations are ongoing. However, it is understood that foul play is not suspected.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family, friends and neighbours.”
