Man (30s) in custody following alleged sexual assault in Dublin

A man remains in Garda custody following the alleged sexual assault of a woman in Dublin on Monday.

The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested at the scene of the incident at Parnell Place in the north inner city after gardaí were called to deal with a disturbance at around 3am on Monday.

He was taken to Store Street Garda station where he remains in custody under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act as of Wednesday afternoon.

The woman in question was brought to a nearby sexual assault treatment unit before later being released.
