Man (21) appears in court over attack on Afghan men

A man has been freed on bail after appearing in court charged over an assault on two Afghan men and a boy in Dublin last week.

Brothers Naqeeb Ahmadzai (18) and Fazalrahman Ahmadzai (20), along with their nephew Abdul (13) were punched in the face, kicked and beaten unconscious by a gang of five men as they were cycling home from Marlay Park in Rathfarnham last Thursday evening.

They were discharged from hospital at the weekend after receiving treatment for injuries they suffered in the attack.

Joseph Connors (21) from Daletree Place, Ballycullen, Co Dublin was arrested on Tuesday and held at Blackrock Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He appeared before Dún Laoghaire District Court on Wednesday charged with assault and was remanded on bail to appear again in court on July 26th, 2016.

Gardaí are currently seeking three other men in connection with their investigation into the attack.
