A truck carrying horses overturned on the M50 in Dublin on Saturday, leaving part of the motorway impassable.

The M50 southbound from Junction 12 to Junction 13 was blocked for a time as a result of the incident.

All lanes southbound had reopened by Saturday night, after all of the horses were removed from the road and a crane helped lift the truck back into an upright position.

The emergency services attended the scene following the incident.

All of the horses are reportedly fine, and the driver is described as being uninjured.

Drivers had been asked to avoid this stretch of the M50 and to take alternative routes.
