Limerick murder accused told gardaí: ‘Sorry, I didn’t mean it’

Gerard Lynch appears in court over the death of his brother Willie (35) in Pallaskenry

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his older brother in Co Limerick over the weekend.

Gerard Lynch (29), of Main Street, Pallaskenry, appeared at Newcastle West court on Tuesday morning in connection with the killing of Willie Lynch (35) on December 30th.

Evidence of arrest, charge and caution were read out to the court.

Garda Alan O’Donnell of Pallaskenry Garda station said he charged Gerard Lynch with the murder at Newcastle West Garda station on Monday.

The court was told that in response to the murder charge, the accused said: “Sorry, I didn’t mean it”.

Gerard Lynch was remanded in custody until January 9th, when he will appear before at Limerick District Court via video link.

Solicitor for the accused, Michael O’Donnell, requested medical assistance for his client while he is in custody.
