An Irish man has been hospitalised after he was found unconscious in his home in Switzerland where his wife had been stabbed to death.
Swiss police found Harry Ringwood (48), from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, in the apartment he shared with his Kazakh wife in the village of Lutry in Lausanne at about 3pm on Monday.
A maintenance worker discovered the body of 46-year-old Galina Shevchenko and contacted the authorities.
The police said Mr Ringwood was found unconscious and injured beside the body of his wife. They have have spoken to him in hospital.
Detectives investigating Ms Shevchenko’s death said the woman was stabbed “at least 40 times” and there was blood “all over the apartment”.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the case but said consular assistance had not been requested.
