Heroin worth an estimated €700,000 has been discovered during garda dog searches of lands in the Ardnacrusha area of Co Clare.
One man was arrested as a result of the seizure which was part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drug strategy.
On Friday night, gardaí released details of the planned operation which involved the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit assisted by local gardaí, the Regional Dog Unit and members of the Defence Forces.
“In the course of the searches suspected heroin with an estimated value of €700k (analysis pending) was recovered,” they said.

A man aged in his 60s was arrested and was being detained on Friday under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act at Henry Street Garda station in Limerick. He can be held for up to seven days.
The drugs discovered are to be sent for analysis and gardaí said its investigation remain open.
Operation Tara was launched in July, 2021, tasked with disrupting, dismantling and prosecuting drug trafficking networks at all levels.
