Gardaí seized suspected stolen goods including power tools, bicycles and over 100 beer kegs and arrested three men following the search of a vehicle at Rosslare Europort on Thursday evening.

The joint operation between gardaí and customs officers recovered what were believed to be stolen goods valued in the region of €70,000 after they stopped and searched a white Mercedes lorry waiting to board a ferry to Cherbourg.

Alongside empty beer kegs, usually stolen for their scrap metal value, investigating officers also recovered garden machinery from the back of the truck.

The three men; described as Romanian nationals aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested at the scene and are currently being detained at Wexford Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
