Gardaí seize over €1m worth of drugs in Co Wicklow

More than €1 million worth of cannabis were found during a raid in Co Wicklow yesterday.

Two men, aged 61 and 36 years, were arrested at the scene of the seizure in Newtownmountkennedy and remain in custody at Bray Garda station.

The Garda National Drugs Unit based at Dublin Castle searched two houses and discovered 51kg of cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €1.02million.

The raid was part of an on-going intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and distribution of controlled substances.

Separately, a 24-year-old man was arrested after gardaí found €20,000 worth of cocaine in Co Cork.

Gardaí from the Cork City Divisional Drug Unit stopped and searched a car in Blackpool on the northside of the city yesterday evening.

The man is being detained at Gurranabraher Garda station under the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
