Suspect being questioned over fatal stabbing freed without charge

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of Dean Fitzpatrick in Dublin last May have released a man they arrested yesterday.

The man was detained at about 9.30am yesterday morning in the Coolock area.

He was being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He was freed without charge overnight. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Originally from Donaghmede, Mr Fitzpatrick was fatally stabbed during a scuffle in an apartment at Northern Cross, Malahide Road, shortly before 11.30pm on May 25th.

The 23-year-old father of one was a brother of Amy Fitzpatrick, who was aged 15 when she went missing in Spain in 2008.
