Gardaí arrest man over Limerick shooting incident

Victim attacked and shot in the stomach in Byrne Avenue area last night

A man has been arrested over a shooting incident in Limerick in which another man was shot in the stomach.

The 26-year-old victim was attacked in Byrne Avenue, Prospect at about 9.30pm last night.

His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

Gardaí said two men wearing hooded tops were seen running from the area. A 28-year-old man was arrested over the shooting and was being detained at Roxboro Road Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
