Garda searches planned in connection with Donohoe murder investigation

Gardaí investigating the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe are carrying out planned searches at Faughart in Dundalk, Co Louth today.

Local detectives backed up by members of the Divisional Search Team, the Regional Support Unit, Garda Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit (National Bureau of Criminal Investigation) and the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit are involved in today’s search.

Det Garda Donohoe (41) was shot in the head on Friday January 25th as he approached a five-strong gang at a car in the grounds of his local credit union in the village of Jenkinstown, Co Louth.

An 08-D navy Volkswagen Passat - stolen from Clogherhead in Co Louth on January 22nd and used in the attack - was later found burnt out beside a forest in south Armagh.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal to members of the public to come forward with any information they may have in relation to the murder.
