A number of firearms and other weapons have been seized as part of a Garda search in Moate, County Westmeath, on Sunday.

Seven people were arrested at the scene, five men and two women, ranging from 27 to 65 years of age.

They are being held at Athlone and Tullamore Garda stations under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.
