A man in his 70s has died in a crash in Co Monaghan.
A man in his 70s has died in a crash in Co Monaghan.

A 70-year-old driver has died following a collision between a car and a tractor in Co Monaghan on Thursday evening.

The man was seriously injured in the collision and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was later pronounced dead.

The crash happened near Castleblaney at 5.45pm on Thursday.

The male driver of the tractor escaped uninjured.

The Ballybay to Carrickmacross Road remains closed as gardaí conduct a forensic investigation.
