Stories highlighting a blog post from Sinead O'Connor about Jim Sheridan have been removed from several websites including RTÉ, Broadsheet . ie , the Sunday World and entertainment.ie after they received correspondence from solicitors acting on behalf of the film director warning them it was defamatory.
The singer wrote the lengthy post on her website after meeting Mr Sheridan at the Irish premiere of the film Stalker last Wednesday.
Hours after it appeared on Broadsheet.ie it was removed with the website subsequently posting a copy of the legal correspondence it received. In the letter, the blog post was described by solicitors acting on the director's behalf as "grossly offensive, defamatory and attention-seeking".
The post was also removed from the singer’s website.
