A woman is facing prosecution for attempting to cheat her driver theory test.
Faria Ali (30) who is originally from Somalia but has an address at the North Circular Road, Dublin has been charged with two counts of attempted deception.
The offences allegedly occurred on January 4th and January 31st last at the Driver Theory Test Centre, Grand Mill Quay, Dublin 4.
Detective Garda Bryan Hunt told Judge Michael Walsh at Dublin District Court that it would be alleged that the woman tried to induce another person to sit her test for her.
The DPP had held that the case should be dealt with at district court level and not sent to the Circuit Court which has wider sentencing powers.
Judge Walsh accepted jurisdiction and ordered the woman to appear again in two weeks when she will be expected to enter a plea. He also agreed to a request from defence solicitor Aine Flynn for a Somalian interpreter to attend the next hearing.
