Trial on indictment

Supt Mick Fitzpatrick said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that the matter be dealt with by trial on indictment before a judge and jury at Circuit Court level.

He applied for a month's adjournment to allow service of documents on the accused, and defence solicitor Jack Purcell said his client was consenting to the adjournment.

Judge James McNulty remanded McCarthy Creedon on bail to appear again at Macroom District Court for service of the book of evidence on November 18th.

Mr Purcell said he would be applying at that stage for free legal aid for his client and Judge McNulty said he would consider the matter once she had filed a statement of means.
