Man charged over Carlow incidents in which Garda cars rammed

Three men have been charged at Kilkenny District Court in connection with a high speed chase which ended after two patrol cars were rammed and three gardaí injured.

Timmy Curry (20), Grange, Kilcormac, Ferns, Co Wexford was charged with criminal damage after it is alleged that he rammed into a Garda car at Myshall, Co Carlow and on St Joseph's Road in Carlow town.

He was also charged with having drugs in his possession for personal use and for sale and supply to others.

Alan Carroll (24), Baile Eoghain, Gorey, Co Wexford was charged with having drugs in his possession for personal use and for sale and supply to others. Detective Maria McWey of Carlow Garda station told the court the defendant replied "none of it is mine" after caution to the charge .

The third man, Keith Kavanagh (23), Cois Doire, Gorey, Co Wexford was charged with having drugs in his possession for personal use and for sale and supply to others.

Bail was granted on condition that the men sign on twice weekly at their local Garda stations and inform gardaí of any change in address. All three men were granted free legal aid.

Gardaí are awaiting directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to further charges. Judge Denis McLoughlin remanded the three accused on bail and adjourned the case to Carlow District Court on February 11th . The alleged incident took place on Saturday night.
