A “tasteless” driver who parked in a disabled parking space and whose car was later seized has been banned from driving for two years.

Hearing that Oladapo William (44) had parked in disabled parking space outside Tallaght court, Judge Bridget Reilly told the court: “It is the most tasteless thing to do. And then people say, ‘I’m only here for a few minutes’”.

William with an address at Westpark Crescent, Citywest, was accused of parking in a disabled space, no insurance and failing to produce his insurance certificate at Tallaght Courthouse, Tallaght, on September 9th, 2015.

His solicitor, Kevin Tunney, said his client was pleading guilty to all matters.

Garda Neil Waters said the disabled space summons could be struck out.

Judge Reilly said: “It is the most tasteless thing to do. And then people say, ‘I’m only here for a few minutes’”.

Garda Waters said William had no previous convictions but added that the car had been seized.

Mr Tunney said his client was a married man and was a father of two children. He told Judge Reilly that William gets €188 in social welfare a week.

Judge Reilly fined William €300 with a two-year ban for having no insurance and €50 for failing to produce his insurance certificate.
