A 22-year-old Co Galway man has been charged with raping a woman twice at knifepoint in the city.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Galway District Court, charged with two counts of raping a woman at a house on December 12th 2013. He is further charged with producing a penknife capable of inflicting harm.
Inspector Ernie White informed the court the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed the accused be sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court and he applied to have the matter adjourned to next month for service of a book of evidence.
