Attempted robbery at Dublin filling station

Two people due before court today after staff confronted by man and woman armed with knives in overnight incident

A man and woman wearing balaclavas and armed with knives demanded money from staff at a filling station in Dublin last night.

The pair threatened the employees at Usher's Quay but fled the scene empty handed.

Gardaí were contacted about the attempted robbery and a patrolling unit spotted a man and woman on Thomas Street a short time later.

Two suspects were arrested and two knives were recovered by the officers.

The suspects were detained at Kevin Street Garda Station overnight and will appear in The Criminal Courts of Justice at Parkgate Street today.

Gardaí said no one was injured during the attempted robbery.
