Two people were rescued yesterday evening after their boat became trapped on rocks at Lambay Island off the Co Dublin coast.
A spokesman for the Howth RNLI said the alarm was raised after the 10-metre powerboat hit a large rock at speed off the island and got stranded. He said it was taking on the water with the rising tide.
The crew used a flare and a Mayday call to alert rescuers.
A lifeboat was on the scene within 20 minutes and removed the two people from the boat and took them to Malahide Marina. They were not injured.
