Lower-paid civil servants have decided to end their campaign of industrial action against pay cuts.
The campaign, which has been underway since January, has resulted in disruption in passport offices and the immigration service in recent weeks and led to thousands of parliamentary questions not being answered.
The executive of Civil and Public Service Union (CPSU) decided this afternoon to reballot members on the Croke Park agreement on pay and reform.
The union, which represents some 13,000 workers, voted last month to reject the deal by a majority of two to one.
CPSU general secretary Blair Horan said the decision to ballot again “would not affect the implementation of the deal in any practical sense”.
