Belfast prison escaper Angelo Fusco, who is fighting an order for his extradition to Northern Ireland, was granted bail by the High Court yesterday.
Fusco was arrested at a Garda checkpoint at Castle island, Co Kerry, in early January and has been in custody since. He is challenging an attempt to extradite him to the North to serve a life sentence for the murder of SAS Captain Herbert Westmacottt in 1980.
Yesterday, Mr Justice Finnegan granted bail to Fusco in his own bond of £500 and two independent sureties of £5,000 each.
The judge attached conditions to the bail. Fusco is to reside at an address at Shanakill, Mona Valley, Tralee, and report daily to Tralee Garda station. He is to surrender any passport he may have and all driving licences, whether in his own name or an assumed name.
