Bordeaux - An assize court yesterday deferred a decision on whether to grant bail to the former French cabinet minister, Mr Maurice Papon, who is charged with crimes against humanity for sending Jews to Nazi death camps.
Two doctors recommended that Mr Papon be held in a hospital for the duration of his trial, which is expected to last until Christmas. The court will give its decision today.
