London - Britain is seeking the release from a Saudi Arabian jail of a woman being investigated with her husband for possession of alcohol, a crime punishable by flogging under the kingdom's Islamic law.
The Foreign Office said its diplomats in Riyadh were negotiating with the Saudi authorities in the case of Ann Goldsmith, who is suffering a medical complaint. They are not trying to free her husband Peter.
