Councillors in Co Monaghan have decided to spend €800,000 in providing an ultramodern theatre at a college complex which is being built on the site of a former Army base.

Monaghan County Council has formally agreed to fund the Garage Theatre project, which will be based at Monaghan Education Campus on the outskirts of Monaghan town.

Cllr Séamus Coyle, who proposed the sanctioning of the allocation, was supported by all 18 councillors present at a meeting yesterday.
