Dublin City Council is to take further legal action against Athlone businessman Noel O'Gara after he broke a Circuit Court injunction and moved a second caravan into Dartmouth Square park in Ranelagh.
Mr O'Gara was ordered by the court two weeks ago to stop selling tiles from the Ranelagh park and to remove a caravan he had parked there.
Last Easter Monday he moved a second caravan on to the site in defiance of the court order. Local residents have called on the council to enforce the order, but the council has said that it is powerless to make Mr O'Gara remove the caravan because the courts are in recess.
"We can do nothing until such time as the courts sit again next Monday, but we will be chasing it up through the courts as soon as we can," a council spokesman said.
Mr O'Gara bought the park for about €10,000 in 2005 and for more than a year he has been involved in a high-profile row with the council over its ownership and use.
Mr O'Gara was not available for comment last night.
