Officials and members of Clare County Council failed yesterday to agree on a new proposed draft county development plan. The council's chairman, Cllr Sean Hillery, responded by calling a special meeting on the plan for early February.
Last week, the council's chief planning official, Mr Brendan McGrath, outlined his opposition to key provisions in the revised plan ahead of a planned discussion by the full council at last night's meeting. However, prior to yesterday's meeting, the council's Corporate Policy Group (CPG) met and discussed the revised proposals.
Cllr Hillery said movement had been made at the CPG meeting and a document on revised proposals would be circulated to council members over the next number of days for further discussion.
