The contract price of the Killybegs water supply scheme was £10.9 million, but the final cost was £17.69 million. The project was one of several where there were significant cost overruns. The Department of the Environment said there were several factors which contributed to these cost drifts including uncharted and poorly mapped services which caused delays.
