Dominic Corrigan became the first managerial casualty of the new season last night when Sligo officials relieved him of his position as county football manager.

The decision was reached following Sligo’s poor start to the national league campaign.  The Connacht side sit bottom of Division 2B after back-to-back defeats to Tipperary and minnows Waterford.

Fermanagh man Corrigan had been Sligo boss since November 2004.  County officials will now turn their attentions to finding a successor but remain tight-lipped on potential candidates.
