A Corkman living in England who claimed he was friends with lonely old people to get his hands on their homes and bank accounts after they died has been jailed for seven years at a London Court.

Francis Fallon (48), New Town, Shandrum, Charleville, Co Cork, perpetrated a scam which could have netted more than €2.2 million.

The Fraud Squad had arrested him on suspicion of forging land registry and probate documents.
