A Cork man who raped a woman in the city on Christmas Eve two years ago has been remanded in custody for sentence on March 23rd by the Central Criminal Court.

William O'Leary (19), of Ardmore Avenue, Knocknaheany, pleaded guilty to raping the woman on a laneway linking Doyle Road and Mount Pleasant Avenue. His guilty plea came after a jury had been sworn in for his trial. Mr Justice Herbert directed the preparation of a victim impact report for the sentence hearing.
