Cork Constitution will meet St Mary’s in the AIB League Division One final in three weeks time after both came through hard fought semi-finals this afternoon.
Con were trailing Dolphin by five points at half time but eventually won by 12 after tries from Richie Lane, Ed Leamy, Duncan Williams and Martin Gately.
Former Ireland under-21 player Lane also converted one and landed three penalties at Temple Hill to overhaul first half tries from Eric Moloney and Robbie Allen.
At Templeville Road it took a late Stephen Gissing try to earn a one-point win for Mary’s over Old Belvedere.
Three Gavin Dunne penalties gave the homeside a 9-3 lead at the break but it opened up in the second half as both sides ran in two tries each.
Richie Leyden and Chris Keane crossed for Belvedere and Conal Keane converted both, as well as two penalties.
Mark Sexton had opened the Mary’s try-scoring but it was Gissing’s contribution that sent them into a May 8th final against Cork Con at Dubarry Park.
In Division Two, Bruff will meet Lansdowne after wins over Terenure College and DLSP respectively.
The Division Three final will see Nenagh Ormond take on Queen’s University.
